In early May, Wikinews extended an invitation to Vitaly Filipchenko, an independent candidate in the 2021 New York City mayoral election, set to take place November 2nd, alongside other candidates. Filipchenko answered some questions about his policies and campaign during a phone interview.

Filipchenko, registered on the New York City Campaign Finance Board as Vitaly A. Filipchenko, is the first Russian candidate for New York City mayor, being born in Tomsk, Siberia in 1973, according to news agency Sputnik. He has since naturalised as a United States citizen. According to the web site, Filipchenko has been educated in road construction and maintenance and owns a moving services company; he describes himself on his web site as a “small business owner”. On his web site’s platform page, he says that “[m]y English may not be perfect – but my platform is.”

Incumbent Democrat mayor Bill de Blasio, who won re-election in the 2017 New York City mayoral election by 66.5%, cannot run for a third term under term limits. As of April 28, 22 candidates are currently running, the majority of whom are also Democrats. Ahead of the June Democratic primary for New York City mayor, a poll conducted May 23 and 24 by WPIX and Emerson College of 12 Democratic candidates with a margin of error of 3.2 per cent has former commissioner for the New York City Department of Sanitation Kathryn Garcia and Borough President of Brooklyn Eric Adams leading with 21.1% and 20.1%, respectively.

Amsterdam pet shop owner creates beer for dogs

Filed in Uncategorized Leave a comment

Thursday, January 25, 2007

Correction — February 8, 2007 Terrie Berenden’s pet shop is located in the town of Zelhem, not Amsterdam as stated in the article & title. Zelhem is approximately 135 km (85 miles) from Amsterdam

A woman in The Netherlands who uses her dogs to hunt in Austria has decided to give her dogs a new kind of treat: beer.

Terrie Berenden, a woman who owns a pet shop in Amsterdam, created a non-alcoholic beer for her dogs which is made from malt and a beef extract. The beer is called Kwispelbier (‘kwispelen’ means “wagging of a [dog’s] tail” in Dutch), and was put onto shelves just last week.

“Once a year we go to Austria to hunt with our dogs, and at the end of the day we sit on the verandah and drink a beer. So we thought, my dog also has earned it,” said Berenden.

According to Berenden, owners can enjoy the new beer as well, but she also stated that it will cost owners about four times as much to drink the beer than to buy a ‘human beer.’ A bottle of the dog beer sells at about $2.14.

The slogan for the new dog beer is “a beer for your best friend” and Brenden hopes that the product will grab international attention. Requests for the beer are already coming from the United States, England and Japan.

“We are overwhelmed with it. From America, England and Japan we have (received) mail and we are just going to think about it, how we can bring it on the market there,” said Brenden.

Tips For Keeping Your Kitchen Clean and De-Cluttered

by

Clement Sherbo

Oh No!!! company is coming and my kitchen is a mess!!! Have you ever had this situation in your house? I have. Since everybody in our house loves to cook, our kitchen is filled with many different, what we in our house hold call, \”aromas\”. Hey, those onions do smell good when being browned. Mix that with whatever else you may be cooking and although it may be OK with you, it doesn\’t mean your company will necessarily enjoy the aroma.

Anyways, the kitchen, as in many of today\’s households, is a central gathering point for the family and therefore that means that a lot of cleaning must take place. Let me share from my experience and pass along some tips for keeping your kitchen clean and de-cluttered. And of course, smelling fresh.Let\’s start with the odors:

For taking care of lingering odors you may want to try what I frequently use: Peppermint Deodorizing Mist:

 • An 8 oz fine-mist spraying bottle
 • 8 oz of distilled white vinegar
 • 20-30 drops of peppermint essential oil

Once you have combined the ingredients inside of the spray bottle, spray the area you want to have deodorized and let it sit for a few minutes. The odor will soon be gone. However, don\’t put your face in the line of this spray because the ingredients are very strong. You can find fine-mist spray bottles in most larger super markets, and if not there certainly in any local goods stores or beauty salons. Does your garbage disposal sometimes smell a bit? Try grinding up orange peels (lemon peel works just as well) and ice cubes. Speaking of garbage disposal; you may want to try and avoid putting certain things into it. Things like grease and starchy foods are items that can clog and create problems down the road.Clear the way for cleaning:

A major on-going complaint I always hear all the time, is the lack of counter space in the kitchen. The aggravation only gets worse when you\’re trying to clean the kitchen. What to do about all the clutter? In most kitchens, the biggest culprits are the appliances that are out and sitting out everyday of every week. The most common ones being, the toaster and coffee maker. Although these items may be important, we do not use them as much as we think we do. Usually, they will only get used in the morning, so instead of having them out all of the time, after they cool down, why not put them away in one of your kitchen cabinets. The same can be done with other less used appliances. Other such as the George Foreman grill, if you havent\’ used it for a year or so, consider giving them away.

Now that the clutter is out of the way:

Cleaning the kitchen will be much easier but, of course there are some appliances such as the refrigerator (always in need of de-cluttering) and oven that may require special attention. I\’ll cover those at another time. Now that we have the counter clear, what\’s the best way to clean and maintain it? Well, in most cases it\’s quite easy; mild soap and water will do just fine. If you need to get a little tougher, a mild solution with white distilled vinegar also acts as a good grease remover, although you\’ll need to take special precautions if you have a granite or marble counter top. An all important thing to remember with these stone type tops, is not to let a cleaner or anything acidic stand on the surface. To be safe check with the installer for instructions.

Wednesday, October 19, 2005

China has announced a new outbreak of avian flu today along with similar cases in Russia, Romania, and Macedonia.

China’s news agency reported that 2,600 birds have died of the H5N1 strain in northern China, declaring that the outbreak was found in a breeding facility in Hohhot, the capital of Inner Mongolia. The government maintains the epidemic is under control.

Russia is waiting for confirmation that it was the H5N1 strain that killed several hundred ducks near Moscow; if the tests return positive it will be a major spread of the virus across the Ural Mountains, into European Russia.

A small village in southern Macedonia also suspects the strain. Plans are already made to kill 10,000 birds to contain the outbreak.

Romania confirmed that there has been another outbreak in the Danube Delta area. The strain was confirmed there last weekend, whereupon 4,500 birds were destroyed.

H5N1 is the strain scientists fear could be transmitted from human to human, causing a flu pandemic. So far 50 people have died of it, all having worked closely with birds. It is not easy to pass the disease from bird to human.

Why Many Patients Choose Dental Implants In Grove City Pa

Filed in Dentist Leave a comment

byAlma Abell

Various oral diseases, such as Periodontal disease and diabetes, may cause tooth decay, tooth loss and bone decay. To replace these teeth, the patient will normally have several options available to them, although the options usually depend on the overall health of the oral cavity. A consultation with an oral surgeon will help to narrow down the choices and help the patient choose the best option for their lifestyle. The options available may consist of dentures, a flipper, a bridge or an implant.

Most patients select dental implants because they last a lifetime whereas the other options may need replacing every three to five years. The implant also does not move and is held in place by the actual jaw bone. The other options are held in place by applying force to the adjacent teeth or gum. Because the implants are not applying pressure to the other teeth or gum, possible damage to the surrounding teeth are prevented. The implants are also known to appear more natural than the alternatives and allow the patient to chew, talk and eat however they normally eat.

For a patient considering Dental Implants in Grove City PA, a board certified oral surgeon should be selected for the procedure. The surgeon should have years of experience and provide all options to the patient clearly so the patient may select their best option. When a patient receives the Dental Implants in Grove City PA, the patient will leave the dental office with the implant in place and a temporary crown or bridge. The bone is allowed to grow around the implant for at least eight weeks. The time-frame for bone regrowth will depend on the oral health of the patient.

During this bone regrowth period, the patient will visit the surgeon that completed the initial Dental Implants in Grove City PA for oral check-ups. This is done in order to check the progress of the regrowth and the health of the oral cavity. Once the desired amount of bone regrowth is completed, the oral surgeon will then fit the patient for the permanent crown which will fit on top of the implant. After completion of the Dental Implants in Grove City PA, the patient usually feels the replacement as a normal tooth.
